For the discerning collector, Schreiner is at the top of the "must have". Impeccable construction technique and the highest quality materials are only two if the reasons. Just looking at this piece, one can see another reason. How often do you see rhinestones with this much sparkle! The large chatons have the look of real diamonds and the faux pearls are also the finest seen in costume jewelry. This brooch is constructed in two tiers. On top a series of simulated pearl florals have at their center a dazzling clear rhinestone. Set among them are the large chatons and a smattering of smaller ones. Top quality navettes sprinkled around the edge complete the look. The bottom tier starts with a large chaton at the center. The complementary navettes and faux pearls radiate outward toward a circle of large chatons. All stones are prong set. The large chatons are set with the dogtooth prongs Schreiner used so often. The setting is gold colored and it is open under some of the chatons. Oh, and yes, some of the stones are set in the signature Schreiner "points up" fashion. The hallmark "SCHRIENER" appears on an applied plaque on the reverse. You can also wear this beauty as a pendant. There is a hook on the back to accommodate a chain! ca. 1950. Condition: Very good vintage. There are a few spots that show some light corrosion. These spots are on the underside of the top tier. You cannot see this from the front or the revere. You need to hold the piece at an angle to view this. It can be cleaned off. I have priced this piece with that in mind. I tried to capture these spots during photograph, but I was unable to. Measurements: 2 1/8" in diameter and about 3/8" high.
